10 Ton Overhead Crane Serves Bangladesh Steel Coil Plant
A Bangladesh steel coil plant with 250,000MT annual capacity purchased a 10-ton European-style double girder overhead crane from Yuantai.
A large steel coil manufacturing plant in Kumira, Bangladesh, recently expanded its cold rolling production line. The facility occupies approximately 15 acres and produces a variety of steel coil products including Cold Rolled Full Hard, Cold Rolled Close Annealed, Galvanized Plain Full Hard, and Galvanized Corrugated coils. During the plant expansion, the client needed to upgrade their material handling system to keep pace with increased production throughput. Their existing lifting equipment could no longer handle the heavier steel coil bundles efficiently. After evaluating multiple international crane suppliers, the client selected Yuantai Crane because of reliable equipment, and competitive cost performance.

Customer Requirements
During the early project consultation, Yuantai engineers communicated with the client to fully understand their production workflow and lifting requirements. The customer required a reliable overhead crane solution capable of supporting high-frequency lifting operations in the cold rolling mill workshop. Their main requirements included:
- Handling 10-ton steel product safely and efficiently
- Improving material transfer between processing stations
- Ensuring precise positioning to prevent coil damage
- Supporting continuous 24/7 industrial operation
- Reducing maintenance downtime and operating costs
- Providing a compact crane design suitable for limited headroom
The client also requested a solution that could reduce energy consumption and improve operational stability, as their existing cranes consumed excessive power and operated with poor control precision.
Operational Challenges with Existing Equipment
Before upgrading their crane system, the steel plant faced several operational difficulties that affected production efficiency and safety.
1. Insufficient Lifting Capacity
The existing overhead cranes in the workshop were rated for less than 10 tons, which was insufficient for handling full steel coil bundles. Operators had to divide heavy loads into smaller batches before lifting. This process significantly increased handling time and doubled the number of lifting cycles, slowing down the production workflow.
2. Frequent Breakdowns and Maintenance Issues
Due to continuous heavy use, the aging crane equipment experienced frequent mechanical failures. Bearings, brakes, and hoist motors were subject to excessive wear. Unexpected breakdowns often forced the production line to stop for several hours, disrupting the plant's operating schedule.
3. Poor Speed Control and High Energy Consumption
The existing cranes used traditional direct-start electrical systems. Each start generated a high inrush current, increasing power consumption and operational costs. In addition, the lack of speed regulation caused sudden starts and stops, resulting in load swing and increased mechanical stress on crane components.
4. Limited Indoor Space
The cold rolling workshop had relatively low ceilings and narrow production aisles. Large conventional crane structures would reduce available headroom and interfere with existing machinery. The customer required a compact crane design capable of delivering full lifting capacity without occupying excessive space.
5. Continuous 24/7 Operation Requirement
Steel coil production requires almost uninterrupted operation. The crane system needed to support long working hours and high-frequency lifting cycles, making reliability and durability critical design considerations.

To design a more accurate steel slab handling crane solution, we requested workshop drawings from the Bangladesh client. According to the client's requirements and the factory conditions, Yuantai Crane designed 1 set of 10 ton double girder overhead crane(European-style) for the Bangladesh steel plant, as we discovered that the client's workshop is relatively small and has limited space, so the European-style low headroom crane is better suited to the client's requirements. Our recommendation and design solution were well received by the client.

What are the advantages of Yuantai european overhead crane solution:
Yuantai's European overhead crane solution delivers clear, practical benefits for anyone looking to buy an industrial crane. It follows European (FEM) design ideas to give a predictable, safe, and well-engineered product. The design focuses on reliability, easy maintenance, and efficient operation. That makes the crane a solid choice whether you need steady daily use or occasional heavy lifts.
1. Smooth and Precise Operation with Frequency Converter
Equipped with frequency converter which could adjust its speed in order to make the bridge crane traveling more smoothly and steady. The built-in frequency converter lets you control travel speed precisely. Smooth starts and stops reduce load swing and protect the structure. You get finer positioning and gentler handling of loads. That improves safety and extends the life of mechanical parts.
2. Meets Client Requirements and Enhances Work Efficiency
The 10 ton overhead crane fully meets client's requirements and improves their working efficiency. A 10-ton capacity fits many medium-heavy industrial tasks. When sized correctly, the crane speeds up material flow and cuts the number of lifts needed. Yuantai can match features—such as controls and safety devices—to your workflow so the crane actually helps you work faster and safer.
3. Reduced Maintenance Requirements and Lower Operating Costs
Less maintenance also saves much time and cost which satisfied client. The crane is built with durable parts and easy access for inspection. That lowers routine service time and reduces unplanned downtime. Fewer repairs mean lower labor and spare-part expenses. In practice, you spend less time on upkeep and more time running the job.
4. Competitive and Cost-Effective Pricing
We offer bridge cranes at very reasonable prices as well. Our cranes utilize high quality parts and proven designs. Considering the initial purchase price, energy consumption, and maintenance requirements, you'll find that our custom cranes are extremely advantageous in the long term.

How to get the 10 ton overhead crane price
To get a quick, accurate quote for a 10-ton overhead crane, please gather the details listed below and send them to us. Short, clear answers let us choose the right crane type and components. Pictures, drawings, and site notes speed the process. If you already have some specs, send those first and we will build from there.
1. Lifting Capacity
Tell us the crane's rated capacity in metric tons (for example 10.0 t SWL). Say whether that is a single hook capacity or divided capacity (two hooks, twin-lift). Note any peak loads, frequent lifts, or required load test certificates so we size the hoist and selection factors correctly.
2. Span
Give the clear distance between the runway centerlines (the span). If you are unsure, measure from the inside face of one runway rail to the inside face of the opposite rail. Mention whether the span is fixed or if there are different spans in different bays.
3. Lifting Height of
State the minimum and maximum hook heights you need — floor to hook at lowest hook position and the maximum lift when the hook is fully raised. Include any headroom limits or obstructions (beams, lights, ceiling) that reduce available height.
4. Power supply
Confirm the onsite electrical supply (for example 380 V, 50 Hz, 3-phase). Tell us where the power is located relative to the crane runway and whether you have a dedicated supply, backup generator, or need a different voltage/frequency.
5. Bay / Travelling Length
Provide the runway length or the travel distance the crane must cover in the bay. Indicate whether the crane must travel through multiple bays, stop at defined stations, or run to the full building length.
6. Operation
Pendant Control / Remote Control / Cabin Control. Tell us how you want to operate the crane. Pendant and remote are common for short cycles and good visibility. A cabin is better for long runs or when the operator must stay with the load. Note any safety interlocks or two-hand controls you require.
7. Indoor / Outdoor
Specify whether the crane will operate indoors or outdoors. Outdoor cranes need weatherproofing, corrosion protection, and sometimes heaters for cold climates. Tell us about exposure to rain, sun, or salt spray.
8. Application (What materials will the crane lift)
Describe the load shapes and attachments — coils, pallets, concrete blocks, drums, boxes, containers, or loose material. Mention if you need special lifting gear (spreaders, magnets, vacuum lifters) or if loads are asymmetric.
9. Environment (Normal / hazardous)
Tell us if the working area has special hazards — explosive atmospheres, corrosive chemicals, heavy dust, extreme temperatures, or marine salt. Hazardous environments may need ATEX/IECEx certification, special coatings, or higher IP ratings.
10. Building drawing if possible
Attach a building plan, section, and any structural drawings if you have them. If drawings are not available, photos of the bay, columns, and roof height help a lot. Accurate drawings reduce site visits and speed quotation.
