Traditional electric wire rope electric hoist is the oldest electric hoist and also the most widely used electric hoist. Traditional single-speed electric hoist and double-speed electric hoist have been optimized for many generations and have become the most cost-effective electric hoist on the market. 

They have the characteristics of compact structure, stable operation, convenient operation, strong versatility of parts and high cost performance. It can match with manual trolley and electric trolley of different speeds. The travelling hoist can be installed on electric overhead crane, single beam manual overhead crane, double girder overhead crane, jib crane(cantilever crane), gantry crane, etc., and also can be suspended on the I-beam, the straight line or curve. The fixed hoist can be mounted on the fixed support for vertical lifting.

Application and working conditions

Traditional electric hoist is widely used in factories, freight yards, mines, docks, warehouses and other working environments, working temperature is from -25℃ to+40 ℃ , relative humidity ≤ 85%, altitude below 1000 m, power supply is three-phase AC 380V, 50HZ (also available customized according to customer requirements).

They are forbidden to be used in places where there is a risk of explosion filled with sulfuric acid or other corrosive gases and where molten metal, toxic or flammable materials are lifted to ensure safety. When used in dusty or open spaces, protective equipment is required.

The core differences between conventional wire rope hoists and European wire rope hoists lie in the design concept, structural optimization and the resulting differences in performance and application.

1. Design Concept and Structural Layout

Conventional wire rope hoists are designed with separately arranged motors and drums, resulting in larger overall dimensions and, in particular, greater headroom (i.e. the vertical space occupied by the hoist mainframe). In contrast, European wire rope hoists have a more compact, efficient and modular design. Its highly integrated and even coaxial arrangement of motor, reducer, drum and wire rope pulley block through optimized construction results in a significant reduction in the contour size of the entire hoist. This design directly reduces the headroom of the crane, allowing loads to be lifted higher for the same plant height.

2. Performance and Operational Performance

In terms of performance, the Euro Hoist focuses more on lightweight and dynamic performance. Conventional hoists, in order to achieve a safety factor, usually have a heavy deadweight and high wheel pressure, which places higher demands on the load-bearing capacity of the plant's beams and columns. Its lifting and running speeds, while meeting basic needs, may be a little less than ideal in terms of micro-movement and smoothness. The Euro hoist, on the other hand, makes extensive use of high-strength steel and new materials, which significantly reduces the machine's deadweight while guaranteeing or even improving the safety factor, thus reducing the wheel pressure on the plant structure. In addition, European hoists usually come standard with a variable frequency speed control system, which allows for precise slow-speed seating and seamless switching between high-speed operation, greatly improving operational efficiency and positioning accuracy, and reducing lifting weight sway, which is particularly important for precision assembly.

3. Safety, Longevity and Maintenance

Security is an aspect that is highly valued by both, but implemented in different ways. Conventional hoists tend to be larger in size, and their rope winding systems sometimes have multiple layers that can increase rope wear. European hoists, on the other hand, enhance safety through precise calculations and advanced technology. For example, it usually comes standard with a wire rope guide, which ensures that the wire rope is always neatly aligned on the reel and avoids messy ropes, thus significantly extending the service life of the wire rope. In terms of maintenance, the modular design of the Euro hoist has obvious advantages. The components (e.g. motor, brake, reducer) can usually be dismantled and installed independently and quickly, which makes maintenance easier and downtime shorter.

4. Application and Selection

The choice of hoist depends greatly on the specific application conditions and budget. The advantages of traditional wire rope hoists lie in their mature technology and relatively low initial procurement costs. For situations where there is sufficient space in the plant, where the lifting height is not too high, where the lifting capacity is stable and where the requirements for precise control are general (such as ordinary warehousing and simple sections), it is still an economical and practical choice. The European wire rope hoists are more suitable for scenarios where there is an extreme demand for space utilization, where high-frequency operation, high-precision positioning or matching with modern plants is required (e.g. precision machining, automated production lines, low-rise plant renovation, etc.). Although its initial cost is more expensive compared to conventional wire rope hoists, its productivity and maintenance costs are more advantageous in the long term.
