3 Units 1-ton Electric Chain Hoist for United Arab Emirates
3 Units 1 ton Electric Chain Hoist with U type Track for United Arab Emirates. Let's take a look at the twists and turns of the transaction process.
The customer is an industrial maintenance and manufacturing facility located in the United Arab Emirates. Their operations involve heavy machinery, mechanical repairs, and periodic equipment upgrades. The plant previously used 0.5 ton capacity hoist cranes. Crane lifting capacity is insufficient for current use. Specific tasks include lifting motors, gearboxes, pumps and other components in a small workshop.
Customer's Initial Inquiry and Evolving Requirements

In the project's early stage, the client submitted an inquiry via Yuantai's website. They asked for a quote on a 1 ton, 5 meter lifting height, two-speed electric hoist. Within 30 minutes, Yuantai provided a detailed quotation for a single-speed electric wire rope hoist and suggested dual-speed options. However, the client disappeared without responding.
1. Revised Request After Three Months
The customer needs three 1-ton electric chain hoists to replace their old 0.5-ton units. Each hoist must give at least 5 m of lifting height and use a compact, low-headroom body to fit under the existing gantry beams. They require dual lifting speeds — 6 m/min for slow, precise lifts and 12 m/min for faster loaded travel — plus a CT (crab/travel) speed of 17 m/min for rapid empty movement between workstations. The hoists must run on the customer's current U-type rails with no rail modification. That means the trolley wheelset and gauge must match the rail profile and flange dimensions exactly. Dual braking is mandatory: a main service brake plus a secondary holding brake or mechanical back-up to ensure smooth, controlled lowering and fail-safe holding on load. Controls should include a pendant or radio remote, an accurate load limiter, and emergency stop. Chain selection, sprocket ratio and motor sizing must match the 5 m lift and the specified speeds. Finally, expect requirements for oil seals, thermal protection, easy-access lubrication points, and clear labeling for safe operation and routine inspections.
2. Client Concerns and Detailed Drawings
The customer provided drawings of their U type track profile and beam dimensions. They were concerned that the proposed hoist trolley would not properly fit or run smoothly. At this stage, they also increased the required lifting speed from 7 m/min to between 8–10 m/min. Yuantai's engineering team analyzed the U track cross-section and the beam flange profile. We confirmed the hoist trolley assembly could be modified to match the track rail width and curvature exactly. The team then prepared a customized electric chain hoist solution to meet all specs.
Challenges Faced Before Yuantai's Solution
Before working with Yuantai, their lifting equipment in use could not keep up with the actual working demands. The existing systems were outdated, mismatched with the rail structure, and lacked modern control and safety features.
1. Inadequate Lifting Capacity
According to the customer, they used to use manual chain hoists in small work areas with a lifting capacity of 0.5 tons. It is not capable of lifting operations of larger tonnage, so sometimes additional manpower assistance is required, which not only leads to inefficiency, but also poses a number of safety risks.
2. Lack of proper speed control
The customer had previously used a hand-pulled hoist, the speed of which depended mainly on the speed at which the operator pulled the chain, the operating load and the ratio of the hoist itself. If the customer wants more speed, it needs to be pulled faster. Although the speed can be adjusted manually, it is not always possible to maintain a steady speed due to limited manpower.
3. Lack of control and security
Because these hoists depend entirely on human operation, it is difficult to achieve smooth and precise positioning. When placing heavy equipment into tight spaces, even small mistakes could lead to collisions with surrounding machinery. There were no built-in safety features such as overload protection or advanced braking systems. If an operator misjudged the load or lost control during lifting, the risk of accidents increased significantly.
Yuantai's Tailored Electric Chain Hoist Solution
Yuantai proposed a 1 ton electric chain hoist with U type track trolley assembly. The design addressed every client concern and provided a robust, efficient solution. Specific features included:
Customized U Type Track Trolley Design
This Customized U Type Track Trolley Design gives you a precision-fit trolley built for reliable, low-maintenance service. We machined the wheels and flanges to precisely match the client's U track dimensions (45 mm inner width, 20 mm rail thickness), so the trolley runs true and won't shift on the rail. The wheels are forged from 65Mn steel and heat-treated to HRC 58–62 for high strength and long wear life, which means fewer wheel replacements and less downtime for you. Each wheel uses double-sealed SKF roller bearings to keep dust and grit out, a must for dusty workshop environments common in the UAE. Adjustable beam clamps let you fine-tune the trolley width by ±5 mm, so you can compensate for small variances in rail spacing during installation. Together, these features deliver smooth travel, predictable maintenance intervals, and a durable trolley that fits your existing U rails with confidence.

Implementation and Commissioning
Yuantai is responsible for coordinating logistics, site work, installation, testing and handover. Ensure that the entire delivery process is smooth.
1. Site Survey and Preparation
Prior to installation, Yuantai's engineers conducted a detailed site survey. Our installation engineers carefully measured the depth of the beams, the width of the flanges, the straightness of the rails and the localized arches. The structural capacity of the support beams also needs to be scrutinized. In addition to that, they checked for corrosion, pitting and weld wear, and for some of the areas that needed it, did some light welding and grinding.
2. Trolley and Hoist Assembly
Technicians assembled each trolley on the U-track with care. They fitted wheel sets and adjusted spacing to suit the 45 mm track width. They checked wheel profile, flange contact, and axial alignment. All fasteners were torqued to spec and safety cotters were installed where required. They installed beam clamps and end stops, then greased bearings and inspected seals. The hoist was suspended from the trolley and the hook block height was set so the hook-to-rail distance stayed within the 4.2 m limit. The team checked hook swivel, latch integrity, and chain reeving. They ran the trolley back and forth under no load to confirm smooth travel and to detect any binding or misalignment. Any issues were corrected on the spot and recorded.
3. Electrical Hookup and Control Testing
Electricians connected the Schneider motor to the 415 V, 50 Hz, three-phase supply. They sized and routed power cables, installed proper overcurrent protection, and grounded the system. They verified phase sequence and ran insulation resistance tests. Motor rotation and direction switches were checked using the pendant controls. The team paired the wireless remote to the hoist receiver and tested transmitter range up to 50 m in real site conditions. They tested the emergency stop function and verified pendant and remote interlocks. VFD parameters were tuned for the two hoist speeds (6 and 12 m/min) and trolley speeds (6 m/min and 17 m/min CT). The technicians adjusted acceleration, deceleration, and anti-sway settings to limit load swing. They also checked brake coil operation, holding torque, and control wiring for limit switches.
4. Load Testing and Certification
The team carried out systematic testing that followed a written procedure. They first completed no-load travel tests across the full 10 m span. Next they loaded the hoist incrementally with certified test weights at 0.5 t, 1.0 t (rated), and 1.25 t (overload) to confirm overload limiter action and brake performance. They performed static hold tests at rated load and observed temperature rise on the brake and motor. They tested limit switches by lowering the hook until activation and confirmed the hook stopped about 10 cm above the floor. The crew measured stopping distances and noted any chain elongation.
5. Operator Training and Handover
Yuantai also provides operation and maintenance training. The training covers safe handling procedures, slow approach techniques and proper load positioning. Trainees learned daily and weekly inspection checklists. The team demonstrated chain lubrication points, gearbox oil checks, and trolley wheel inspection methods. They walked through troubleshooting steps such as reading overload limiter alerts, replacing a worn chain link safely, and resetting limit switches. Yuantai handed over operation manuals, wiring diagrams, spare parts lists, and a maintenance schedule. The client signed off and received contact details for follow-up support.
